Translation & Back Translation
Translation
I help clients with the translation of legal and commercial content from across the various jurisdictions of the Middle East. I have extensive experience in this area and love researching and getting to the bottom of nuances in the legal language, concepts, and definitions used across Arabic speaking countries in comparison to English speaking jurisdictions, in order to provide you with the most accurate and authentic English version possible.
Examples of documents I am accustomed to dealing with include:
Legal: court documents, pleadings, memoranda, witness statements, court judgments, statutes and regulations, expert reports, powers of attorney, and other personal documents.
Commercial: contracts, insurance documents, articles and memoranda of association, company financial reports, licensing applications and commercial leases.
Back Translation
If you already have an existing English to Arabic translation that you would like verifying, to ensure that it rings true to your original English text, then I have undertaken numerous back translations for clients so they can tweak and perfect their Arabic translations where required.
Examples of client projects where back translation proved very useful:
Patient consent forms and instructions in clinical trials, where the precise meaning of certain terms needed to be retained. I performed back translations for a number of clinical trials being rolled out across certain Arabic speaking countries.
Market research surveys.
Proofreading & Editing
There is a slight distinction in these two services.
Proofreading
If you need your Arabic into English translations verifying and checking against the original Arabic text, then I can proofread the translation word-by-word and make amendments in-line with your instructions and requirements.
Editing
If you have a document that has been translated into English from Arabic and just need it reviewing and tidying-up by a native English speaker so that it flows, or captures your intended message, without performing a word-by-word comparison with the original Arabic text.

Certified Translations in the UK:
When members of the public, businesses, and public authorities need a certified translation of a document that is not in English, it is important to choose a qualified, registered translator. Unlike many other European countries, the UK does not have a system of ‘sworn’ or ‘certified’ translators accredited by a particular body. Translations required for official purposes, such as birth, death and marriage certificates, legal documents, academic transcripts etc can, however, be ‘self-certified’ by any practising translator. Certification serves to identify the translator, and their credentials. Thus, holding them accountable for the quality of their work.
Get a Certificate
As per government guidance the translation document is best annotated or accompanied by a certificate with at least the following information:
The translation is ‘a true and accurate translation of the original document.
The date of the translation.
The name and contact details of the translator.
